Katalina’s Journal: 7 Fall Pieces We’re Actually Wearing in 2026

Fall is officially starting to take over the racks at Katalina's, and this might be one of our favorite times of year to get dressed.
But here's the thing.
We don't believe you need an entirely new wardrobe every time the season changes.
We'd much rather find a handful of pieces that make you excited to get dressed — the sweater you keep grabbing, the jeans that somehow work with everything, or the bag that instantly makes even the simplest outfit feel finished.
So for this edition of Katalina's Journal, we're sharing seven fall pieces we're actually wearing and loving for 2026.
No complicated fashion rules.
Just really good clothes and easy ways to wear them.
1. The Sweater You Throw On With Everything
You know that sweater.
The one that somehow ends up on the back of your chair instead of in your closet because you wear it constantly.
That's the kind of sweater we're looking for this fall.
Soft, comfortable and easy enough to throw over denim, pants or even a dress.
For California fall, we especially love sweaters that give you that cozy feeling without being ridiculously heavy.
And in Scottsdale, a lightweight sweater or cardigan is perfect for cooler evenings and aggressively air-conditioned restaurants. 😂
This fall we're loving warm neutrals like chocolate, camel and ivory, but we're definitely not abandoning color.
2. Really Good Denim
Fall and denim just belong together.
The right pair of jeans becomes the foundation for about half your wardrobe.
Add a fitted tank and cardigan.
Throw on an oversized sweater.
Pair them with a Made in Italy top.
Add a great handbag.
Done.
We're especially loving relaxed and wide-leg silhouettes because they're comfortable but still give an outfit some shape and personality.
The goal isn't owning fifteen pairs of jeans.
It's finding the pair you actually want to wear.
3. The Made in Italy Piece That Does All the Work
If you've been following Katalina's Journal, this one won't surprise you.
We LOVE our Made in Italy pieces.
There's something about a beautiful Italian knit, relaxed pant or easy top that makes an outfit look styled without requiring much effort.
One beautiful statement piece paired with something simple is usually enough.
Try an Italian sweater with denim.
Flowy pants with a fitted tank.
Or a beautiful cardigan over something you already own.
That's our kind of dressing.
4. A Layering Tank You'll Wear Year-Round
Not every fall purchase needs to scream FALL.
Some of the hardest-working pieces in our closets are actually the simplest.
A fitted tank or cami works under sweaters and cardigans now, then goes right back into your spring and summer wardrobe later.
That's one of the reasons we carry so many Nikibiki styles.
They're fantastic layering pieces, they work with denim and flowy pants, and they give you a fitted base when you're wearing something oversized on top.
They're the pieces you don't realize you need until you're constantly doing laundry because you keep wearing them.

A matching set gives you an entire outfit without standing in front of your closet wondering what goes together.
But here's why we REALLY love them:
You actually get multiple outfits.
Wear the full set together.
Pair the top with denim.
Wear the pants with a sweater.
Throw a jacket or cardigan over the whole thing.
One purchase suddenly works several different ways.
And we're always going to choose versatility over something that only works once.
6. A Hammitt Bag That Goes Everywhere
Sometimes the best fall wardrobe update isn't clothing at all.
It's the bag.
We love Hammitt because these bags work with the way we actually live.
A beautiful leather crossbody can go shopping, to dinner, traveling, to a concert or just running around town.
And a great handbag has this magical ability to make jeans and a sweater suddenly feel like an actual outfit.
We're especially partial to hands-free crossbody styles because they're just EASY.
Beautiful and practical is always going to win around here.
7. Something You Didn't Think You'd Wear
This might actually be our favorite one.
Every once in a while, try on the thing you would normally walk past.
The unexpected color.
The wide-leg pants.
The oversized sweater.
The dress you swear isn't “you.”
Some of our favorite moments at Katalina's happen when someone walks out of the fitting room wearing the piece they almost didn't try on and says:
“Wait. I LOVE this.”
Fashion is supposed to be fun.
You don't need to completely reinvent yourself.
But you also don't have to buy the exact same thing you've been wearing for the last ten years.
Try the thing.
You might surprise yourself.
So... What Do You Actually Need for Fall?
Probably less than you think.
Start with what you already own.
Then look for the holes.
Maybe you need one fantastic sweater.
Maybe your denim desperately needs an update.
Maybe you have plenty of clothes but need better basics underneath them.
Or maybe you've been carrying the same handbag since approximately 2017 and it's time. 😂
Build slowly.
Buy pieces you love.
And think about how many different ways you can wear something before bringing it home.
That's how you build a wardrobe that actually feels like you.
